Former Eastern New Mexico University football standout, Tillman Stevens has signed to play for the Vienna Vikings of the European Football League.
Stevens played for the Greyhounds from 2007-2011 and made 283 tackles and 12 interceptions.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue my career as a football player and I am really looking forward to the experience of playing in Europe,” said Stevens. “I’d also like to thank the Greyhound football staff for the opportunities they gave me.”
Stevens served as an assistant coach for the 2011 season, after earning Greatest Greyhound honors in 2010, in addition to three All-American honors and a number of accolades at the national, regional and conference levels. As a senior, Stevens led the Lone Star Conference and finished tied for seventh in the nation, with 11.1 tackles per game. He also tied for the conference lead and 11th in the country with six interceptions, including one, which her returned 62 yards for a score against Central Oklahoma. He registered a career-high three interceptions along with ten tackles and two passes broken up. In the fourth quarter, he sealed the game by returning an interception 62 yards for a score. Stevens registered 81 yards on interception returns. Stevens has intercepted five passes in the last two games. Of his 122 tackles, he made
61 solo stops and seven tackles for a loss. In a win over Southeastern Oklahoma State, Stevens blocked a point-after-touchdown attempt, which gave him a blocked kick for the third consecutive season.
The Vikings have won the Euro Bowl, the championship of the European Football League, four times, most recently in 2007. Vienna also has four runner-up finishes in the EFL, including the 2010 season.
